West Pine Middle's Robotics Club page

Robotics Club

The West Pine Middle School Robotics Club offers students the opportunity to get hands-on experience programming robots to solve problems. The club utilizes LEGO EV3 robots and Spheros and their respective computer programs. Students can learn how to program the robots to accomplish tasks of varying complexity and design and build challenges for the robots to solve. Students will meet every Tuesday after school from 3:00 to 4:00 until the beginning of May. Students will compete in the Moore County Robotics Competition at Pinecrest High School on May 1, 2020. Robotics Club will not meet after the county competition on May 1.

Students participating in the WPMS Robotics Club also have the opportunity to apply for participation in FIRST LEGO League. Teams must solve a problem that requires research, creative thinking, teamwork, and robot programming skills. Due to the short amount of time to work on the problem, teams need to meet frequently and may have to devote additional time outside of team meetings. Students interested in FIRST LEGO League will apply in May 2020 for participation in the Fall 2020 season. FIRST LEGO League will meet on Tuesdays from 3:00- 4:30 and will compete in a regional tournament in Fall 2020.

Active, hands on parent support is crucial to the success of our Robotics Club and FIRST LEGO League team. Please contact Mrs. Eiler (seiler@ncmcs.org) or Mrs. Lagos (mlagos@ncmcs.org) if you are a parent interested in being involved.
