Odyssey of the Mind is a team-based environment where students are challenged to go beyond conventional thinking while incorporating creative problem solving within their learning. Students are highly encouraged to draw upon their technological, engineering, math, science, art, history, and theatrical skills in order to solve one of five long-term problems in an unconventional way. Students create a skit that incorporates their solution from their long term problem, lasting up to seven minutes. Students are also challenged with three types (in any combination) of spontaneous event challenges, thinking on the spot to unconventionally solve a problem.
