Service Opportunities 2019-2020

Induction Ceremony - June 4, 2019, from 5:30-6:45 p.m.  Seventh and eighth grade volunteers are needed to hand out programs, serve refreshments and organize new inductees.  Please use this form to sign up to volunteer.  Volunteers need to be sure to have transportation arranged.
 
Meals of Hope -
May 21, 2019, from 4:30-7:30 p.m.  Volunteers are needed to package meals in the WPMS cafeteria.  Please use this link to sign up to volunteer.  Volunteers need to be sure to have transportation arranged.
 
NC. Jr. Beta Club Convention - If you attended the N.C. Jr. Beta Club Convention in Greensboro, you may add 250 service points to your log for that event.
 
ShamRock 'N Roll Road Race
- If you participated in the ShamRock 'N Roll Road Race, you may add 100 service points to your log for that event.
 
Wildcat Fest - If you participated in the WPMS Wildcat Fest by setting up, cleaning up or performing, be sure to add this to your service log. (50 pts. / hour) 

Other Volunteer and Service Ideas

Below you will find several ideas for service projects and an assigned point value. Please contact the organization (Humane Society, Sandhills Children's Center, etc) you wish to volunteer with, prior to volunteering.


Generic Points Conversion:
1  hour of service = 50 service points

Outside of WPMS

  • Read to the elderly at a local nursing home.
  • Play an instrument for a local nursing home.
  • Volunteer at the Humane Society or other animal shelter.
  • Volunteer at the Sandhills Children's Center.
  • Volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club.
  • Volunteer at the Sandhills Coalition.
  • Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity.
  • Volunteer to coach and help with athletic teams for younger children.
  • Volunteer to teach lessons, such as dance or music, for younger children.
  • Volunteer at school festivals / dances / social events.

Within WPMS

  • Help Mrs. Evers set up the band room, before or after school (set up times with Mrs. Evers)
  • Help teachers with classroom cleanup, after school (set up a time with the teacher)
  • Help sell concessions at WPM sporting events.
  • Volunteer in Mrs. Hunsinger's class (get permission from Ms. Hunsinger)
  • Volunteer to work in the library, before or after school (get permission from Ms. Thomas)
  • Participate on the West Pine Relay for Life Team = 100 points
  • Donate Box Tops for Education, 2 points per $.10 box top.  Therefore, if your box tops have a value of $6.50, you should multiply the value by two and record 130 points on your log. Be sure that box tops are cleanly cut and have not expired. (Give to Ms. Malpass)
